In reply to your Despatch No. 1599 of
1903, I have the honour to state that no increase of salaries
has been granted to any members of the Customs Service, either
Native or Foreign, since the general increase of salaries in 1898, neither is any increase contemplated except to the Native
Deck Crews of the various vessels of the Revenue Fleet whose
pay will probably be raised shortly to the level of the rates
ruling in Merchant Steamers trading from this port.
